What if, one day, you decide to launch your own business, follow your dreams, and become an awesome entrepreneur?
Well, if you decide to be one and you want to be absolutely eco and sustainable about it, then here are some entrepreneurial eco tips for you:
If you're launching a jewelry/fashion business:
For clothing, try looking for more sustainable, vegan fabrics:
Cotton: this is a good option due to its fast biodegradability, although it can sometimes be a problem in the agricultural industry because of soil erosion and such
Vegan silks: this includes banana silk, lotus silk, orange silk, and other plant - based silks
Another general tip is to avoid synthetic fibers and non - biodegradable fabrics and try to use recycled fabrics and reuse cloth and other materials to make brand new ideas work instead of throwing away.
For jewelry, especially if it's a "for fun" business, you know, to make cute necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and other such things for people, instead of using a lot of plastic, try using sustainable materials and bring up new fashion ideas that takes this into consideration, such as
Fun peace bracelets with recycled string, pebbles, and other materials, and the least amount of plastic as possible
Choker cloth necklaces made out of vegan silk.
Whenever you do use plastic, try to use recycled plastic and other alternatives.
If it becomes successful, think about giving 5% or 10% profits to a reliable organization that gives to the world. People will be attracted by your kindness and want to buy more.
Try using a variety of materials (so your business is not concentrated on one fabric industry just in case it comes crashing down)
If you're starting a new grocery/restaurant/online food delivery/transport business:
For a restaurant or online food delivery, include the option of portion sizes:
Ex. Mac & Cheese: Kids (Small Serving Size), Teens (Medium Serving Size), Adults (Large Serving Size)
This way, people can find it easier to get a meal just enough for them, and don't have to throw it away.
Don't use plastic straws, cups or utensils: use ones made of recycled/sustainable paper or other materials.
Use the least number of disposable materials as possible and encourage customers to recycle and take-home leftovers whenever possible.
Connect/sponsor to a sustainable/giving charity and do a fundraiser on a specific day of the week or on a special day to raise money and raise environmental awareness.
If the business becomes successful, think about giving 5% or 10% profits to a reliable organization that helps the world. People will be attracted by your kindness and want to buy more.
Buy your food supplies from a local market (such as a farmer's market) and have a garden (such as a rooftop garden) to help you. There's nothing like home and locally grown food!
Consider starting a climatarian friendly vegan/vegetarian restaurant. Being a vegan/vegetarian in this world with a love for the environment sometimes makes it hard when it comes to food, because there's so much meat everywhere, in foods you might not even think there is! (See the post before this for details) This will attract customers in this section of food restriction and you'll be able to have an inclusive, animal - friendly, sustainable restaurant!
For transportation, try to use as many clean cars as possible, especially ones that go on "Econ" mode like in Hybrid, and donate, donate, donate!!! (This is for car and other transport businesses as well)
For groceries, again, try finding foods and materials from local, small businesses and nearby sustainable organizations and start your own garden if you like as well!
Those were the main ones . . .
But to sum everything up, if you start a cosmetics business, use animal - friendly materials and make cosmetics using healthy, natural ingredients and stray from chemicals. This will attract more customers because of your sustainable impression and strive to get as many eco certifications as well for your products.
For furniture, technology and inventions, if you use wood, use it from companies that are sustainable and replant trees. Also use vegan alternatives to leather, wool, silk, and others if you need materials like that, and use as many recycled materials as possible, always remembering to sponsor to reliable, eco organizations and charities such as TerraCycle.
If you do everything online, such as fitness apps, that's fine and if you're shipping anything and are connecting to big online shopping websites and platforms such as Amazon and Etsy (Etsy has a lot of sustainable details and reduces carbon emissions, so you can look into that if you like), try choosing sustainable platforms and, if you have control over transportation/shipping, try using sustainable means such as hybrid vehicles and bulk transporting.
And for everything else, such as health, medics, foundations, and everything etc., remember these main things:
Use hybrid, clean - energy vehicles whenever possible, and always try to transport and package items in bulk (such as for snacks, don't individually wrap every single one; just put a lot in one container)
Use sustainable, clean packaging whenever possible, and use reliable organizations and recycled material.
Reuse materials to make something new especially in the fashion business.
Use the least amount of disposable material as possible.
Stray away from the use of chemicals and use vegan alternatives.
Buy from local, organic places for supplies and create your own garden if you want.
Sponsor organizations and charities that are sustainable.
Strive for as many eco certifications (ex. OEKO - TEX) as possible.
So, to conclude, there are many eco and sustainable tips to follow when you decide you want to be an entrepreneur, which will, a lot of times, also attract many customers!
The next time you consider opening a shop for makeup and cosmetics or have in mind a savvy restaurant scheme, you can take a quick look at this for some ideas to attract customers and give to our world!
