Why are trees important to us?
There are thousands of reasons why. Trees help the environment and us. They clean the air and give beauty to the landscapes. They give oxygen to all animals, letting us breathe. They are a big part of nature, especially important for those who have breathing problems. Their tall figures provide a sense of home and comfort to us. They bring people together and spread calm in our environment.
And if they weren't there from the beginning, we wouldn't be able to survive.
So, without further ado, here are some more of the many reasons why they are necessary and for our and our world's benefit:
Many trees provide food, such as fruit and syrup. Trees provide a lot of food, such as the following: One, fruits. Fruits are a big part of our diet, with sugary flavor and soft texture. Many of us love it, and yet it's healthy: it's low - fat, nutritious, and full of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Two, nuts. Many nuts grow on trees: walnuts, pecans, almonds, cashews, hazelnuts -- you name it (excluding peanuts: they don't grow on trees, they grow underground, part of the reason being because they aren't nuts)! They are highly nutritious and are good for your heart health. And finally, tree syrup! It doesn't have to be only from maple trees -- there are other alternatives. But the benefits of eating maple syrup are that it provides anti - oxidants, is lower in calories than honey, and is good for skin health. Without trees, you wouldn't get any of these items, and there would be less variety and/or amount of food.
Trees clean the air, absorbing a lot of carbon dioxide. During the trees' process of photosynthesis, they absorb in a lot of carbon dioxide, cleaning the air around them. With more trees around, we would have less polluted air. Our environments would be cleaner, safer, and healthier to live in with more trees.
Trees provide many habitats for animals. From bees to birds to monkeys, many animals look to trees as their home. When people clear land (including cutting down trees) for agricultural purposes, to construct more buildings, etc., many animals' habitats are destroyed, killing or forcing animals to move to another spot, changing their lives.
Trees give shade and coolness. Have you ever experienced one of those days where it was burning hot and extremely muggy and humid? And then you saw, to your great relief, that there was a nice, huge tree nearby, providing a lot of shade -- and you went, as quickly as possible, to get there to escape from the exhausting heat? In that way, trees are necessary. Without them, there would just be miles and miles of hot, dusty plains, and you only have the roofs of buildings for comfort when you need it.
Trees release oxygen. Again, in photosynthesis, trees release oxygen. They are a major factor in why we have oxygen, and why we can breathe. Without them, many of us would not be able to live, and we would have to invent some kind of mask that supports us, although it would be harder to live and never be the same.
Trees absorb water. Trees are necessary in many areas because of this. When floods happen, since there are less trees and lots of roads now, water could easily slide and traverse through these roads, making it easier to flood places heavily and increase water levels rapidly. But if there's more growth and plants and more trees, these helpful organisms could easily absorb this runoff and lessen the impacts and effects of natural disasters.
Trees bring peace and calm to many people. When you look up at a tree, doesn't it give peace and quiet to you? Doesn't that calm of deep green or bright orange or just that mix of colors make you feel inner quiet, taking a break out of that speedy, rushing world around you? Trees calm us to the heart, show a world of brightness, of colors, of beauty. We should always respect nature in not only helping us physically, but helping us mentally and spiritually.
So, everyone, these are many of the ways trees help us grow and live a beautiful life. They're always calming, inspiring, giving, and helping. They support our world, so we should plant and preserve them as well. So we should all make it our goal to at least plant and preserve one tree to help this and future generations.
