If you live in a city or suburb, this post is just the right one for you!
As the rural population declines (because of reasons such as more moving out to cities), there would be less food production resulting in more hunger for the growing population of the world since rural areas have the most agriculture.
This does not only result in hunger, but also more polluted air, since there are less farms of less plants to absorb carbon from the air.
And not only that: it might also affect people's health. People would more global than local since the amount of nearby gardens would decrease resulting in more imported items. This also releases more carbon into the air since people would have vehicles such as trucks and planes to transport products to different regions.
So what can WE do?
The answer is very straightforward: become a city gardener.
By becoming a city gardener, you can eat more locally/homegrown food and let more carbon in the air get absorbed. By becoming a city gardener, you can encourage local diets and reduce the amount of carbon spread into the air because of shipment of imported goods. By becoming a city gardener, you create more healthy food for others.
And there are many ways to become one. If you live in an apartment, you can make your place green by setting out potted plants in the porch and/or on the windowsill. If you live in another type of house, you could create a rooftop garden, green roof or a garden in your backyard.
And you can do more: you can start a community garden or tree nursery, helping and cooperating with others to make your world as clean, united and hunger - free as possible.
You can also compost biodegradable items in your gardens to supply nutrients back to the soil and get healthy, nourishing fruits and veggies.
So all in all, by becoming a city gardener, you can make your place green no matter how much limited space you have and you can provide food and good health to many others including you.
